In this film for CANVAS Arts to promote the Birmingham Opera Company’s staging of the new Opera ‘WAKE’, director Shabazz L. Graham has crafted a vivid, almost surrealist journey, into the narratives of real victims of knife crime in Birmingham. Set to an original composition from Giorgio Battistelli, and shot on location in key areas across the city, the film is a set of visually striking portraits that manages to deftly blend authentic emotive storytelling with the story of Lazarus & resurrection on which the Opera is based.
